San Ignacio, BZ June 30, 2008 Belize Ventures International Ltd. (B.V.I.) today announced that its wholly owned company Calico Jack’s Village (CJV) now situated on North Maya Beach, Placencia, Belize is moving to the mountains in central Belize.

Calico Jack’s move from North Maya Beach to the Mountain Pine Ridge area and the opening  of the first phase of this eco-tourism oriented property is expected to be end-May 2009.

“B.V.I. Ltd. is focused on delivering the highest quality product and services for today’s travelers and this aspect of CJV’s business will remain and there will be positive changes” said Dr. Ydahlia Metzgen, proprietor. “The upcoming move and renovation of Calico Jack’s Village supports B.V.I’s commitment to be among the best eco-tourism establishments, providing guests with unforgettable and distinctive service and lodging experiences.”

Dr. Metzgen adds: “The impetus for our move is positive from a general Belizean perspective—the rapid development and population of the Placencia Peninsula. This,  in turn, presents challenges for our brand commitment to provide an intimate, authentic Belizean, tropical, ecotourism experience.”

According to Chester “Chet” Williams co-owner/builder the development has two phases. In the first phase, Calico Jack’s Village will offer spacious cabanas and its renown full fledged restaurant and bar. Our patented building system UroBlockTM allows us to physically move the cabanas to our new location and we will use this also as an opportunity to upgrade our facilities.  The focus of this phase will also be on the careful development of ground facilities—the medicine trails, aerial canopy trails,  and caves—for the use of our guests.  The second phase, will focus on additional accommodations and amenities including the health & retreat aspects.  Dr. Metzgen stressed that she and her husband Chet had a commitment to the original concept of Calico Jack’s Village—to maintain a high quality self-sustainable village.

Chet elaborated: “One of the most exciting changes will be the opportunity for our guests to experience a wide variety of nature oriented activities for the most part without leaving the property. As a private 400 acre nature reserve nestled in the hills of the Maya Mountains our activities have been designed to stimulate interest in the environment, culture, natural history, and archaeology of Belize. For example, a guest could explore the fauna and flora by taking a trek down one of our medicine trails, exploring breathtaking Mayan caves, hiking or biking through magnificent virgin rainforest, and repelling off a cliff,  and/or surrendering into an ariel canopy on a zip line. All of this, and we will also be able to arrange diving and snorkeling off Belize’s barrier reef and other water actives offsite. ”

Calico Jack’s warm and engaging genuine hospitality at every point of guest contact and high service standards will continue in the well qualified hands of CJV’s highly rated staff. Calico Jack’s environmentally conscious approach will continue to be anchored on its revolutionary environmentally oriented building material, UroBlock  and commitment to conservation.
