Belize Wedding Requirements

Requirements for a Civil or Church Wedding in Belize

The Government of Belize requires that you reside in Belize 3 days and can submit your marriage application on the fourth business day. The completed paperwork is ready the following business day. We can facilitate the paperwork for you.

If you are over the age of eighteen (18), no blood test is required and no parental consent is required. Proof of age on your passport or birth certificate is required. The following additional requirements depend on maritial status.

If neither of the parties has been previously married:

  1. Fully completed marriage license application form, notarized by a J.P.
  2. Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into Belize.
  3. Two of the parties must be in the country 3 days prior to filing the petition of the license.

If either party has been previously married:

  1. Fully completed marriage license application form - Notarized by a J.P.
  2. Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into Belize.
  3. Two of the parties must be in the country 3 days prior to filing the petition of the license.
  4. Final divorce decrees.

If either party is a widow or widower:

  1. Fully completed marriage license application form - Notarized by a J.P.
  2. Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into Belize.
  3. Two of the parties must be in the country 3 days prior to filing the petition of the license.
  4. Copy of death certificate.

Additional information on Weddings at Calico Jack's

Services are conducted by an ordained Minister or Priest. You must have two witnesses, either family, friends, hotel guests or staff. Our standard Wedding Package provides a daytime ceremony, anywhere on Calico Jack’s property.

Ministers and Priests may conduct ceremonies in their respective churches or any other location you choose, traditional or otherwise. Many Ministers will officiate non-sectarian ceremonies and allow you to write your own vows.

Registry hours are Monday to Friday from 8am- 5pm, Central Mountain Time.
