Lubaantun & Blue Creek in Belize

From Sun Creek, a shuttle takes you first to San Pedro Columbia (Kekchi village). We will head through the village and cross the bridge over the Columbia River. Lubaantun, which means “Place of the Fallen Stones” is a major Late Classic ceremonial centre which at one time covered a large area. The site is on a high ridge and from the top of the tallest building you can (just) see the Caribbean, over 20 Miles away. The tour continues west to Blue Creek. To get to the best swimming spot, we will walk upriver along the right-hand bank and we will reach a lovely turquoise pool. About another fifteen minutes walk upriver is the entrance to the Hokeb Ha Cave, which is fairly easy to explore.
