Belize Sapodilla Cayes

Halfmoon Beach

Calico Jack's Resort offers Belize Saposilla Caye vacations. A World Heritage Site and protected marine reserve, the Sapodilla Cayes are considered, by many, to be the most beautiful set of cayes in Belize, and offer some of the best snorkeling to be found.

The reserve covers an area of approximately 125 square kilometers and includes fourteen sand and mangrove cayes along the southernmost tip of the Belize Barrier Reef, nearly 40 miles due east of Punta Gorda. The area supports a wide variety of fish, and waters are often spectacularly clear, with the Caribbean washing over the through the reef cuts.

Your journey takes you from Punta Gorda to Seal Caye Seal Caye - an incredible location with a shallow coral reef on one side and, on the other side, only 30 feet offshore, a wall falling fifty fathoms to separate the blue water from the reef! Snorkel to your heart’s content, before moving on to Hunting Caye.

With its thick coconut forest, and pristine beaches, Hunting Caye really is the gem of the Sapodillas, and is also an important nesting site for the Hawksbill turtle. A lighthouse, immigration post and a BDF guard station are based on the island, as well as the TASTE Ranger Station, where you’ll learn about their involvement in education and the protection of the Reserve.

You can snorkel around a shipwreck, fish, or simply relax on the beautiful Halfmoon Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Belize, before a leisurely lunch. After lunch you will have the chance to visit and learn about some of the other Cayes in the range, before heading back
towards Punta Gorda, with the option of trolling for fish trolling for fish on the way.
